Speaking to a gathering of foreign envoys, government officials, and other distinguished guests, Ambassador M’Hammdi highlighted the profound economic and social changes that have reshaped Morocco. The event marked the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s ascension to the throne, a milestone celebrated with pride and reflection.
Ambassador M’Hammdi described King Mohammed VI as a beacon of national unity and cohesion, underscoring his role in driving Morocco’s transformation. “The 25th-anniversary celebration honors the exceptional progress our Kingdom has achieved under His Majesty’s leadership,” she said.
Since King Mohammed VI began his reign in 1999, Morocco has undergone a dramatic evolution, marked by ambitious reforms and substantial investments to modernize the nation’s infrastructure and economy. According to the ambassador, Morocco has experienced notable economic growth, bolstered by structural reforms designed to attract foreign investment and enhance innovation.
Ambassador M’Hammdi highlighted several key achievements in her speech: “Over the past quarter-century, Morocco has emerged as a hub of economic growth and modernization. Our nation now boasts the fourth most efficient port globally, the first high-speed train on the African continent, and an extensive network of over 2,000 kilometers of highways.”
The ambassador also noted the significant strides made in various industries. “Our automotive sector has become a cornerstone of economic expansion, positioning Morocco as the leading producer and exporter of passenger cars in Africa. Additionally, our aerospace industry has seen robust growth, with more than 140 companies investing heavily in the sector in recent years.”
The event also featured a presentation of Moroccan cuisine and pastries, accompanied by a video showcasing Morocco’s progress and future aspirations. The National Day, also known as Throne Day, provides an opportunity to reflect Morocco’s achievements and the enduring cultural values that define its identity.
Ambassador M’Hammdi also touched upon Morocco’s evolving role in international diplomacy. “In the past 25 years, Morocco has made significant strides in global diplomacy, reinforcing its stance on the Moroccan Sahara with increasing international support for the Autonomy Plan. This plan is a viable solution to enhance regional development while upholding Moroccan sovereignty.”
