The fourth edition of the Global Summit on Disinformation, to be held on September 18 and 19 this year, opens its registrations and anticipates some of its confirmed speakers.
The Summit will open with a presentation by Julia Angwin, a renowned journalist known for her research on technology, online privacy and cybersecurity. She is the founder of Proof News, a website that uses scientific methods to investigate and strengthen the journalistic mission.
In addition, artificial intelligence will be one of the topics addressed at the Summit by initiatives such as Content Authenticity, Rolli App and VerifAudio from Prisma Group.
With more than 2,200 annual registrations from 50 countries, the fourth edition of the Global Summit on Disinformation is an event of great importance for all participants seeking to acquire knowledge, grow or contribute with their initiatives to combat disinformation, improve the availability of information reliable, promote digital education and strengthen democracies.
Organized jointly by the Inter-American Press Association, the Fundación para el Periodismo (Bolivia), and Proyecto Desconfío (Argentina), this event brings together journalists, researchers, academics, fact-checkers, media and government representatives, civil society organizations, professors and students. The 2024 edition of the Summit will address the challenges posed by AI in the field of information through conferences, panel discussions, roundtables, and the presentation of successful tools and strategies to counter the impact of disinformation, focusing on four thematic topics:
- Strengthening democracy in the face of disinformation,
- Media strategies in the face of disinformation narratives,
- Innovation and AI in the face of disinformation, and
- Education and AMI (media and information literacy) in the age of deepfakes.
