Addis Jazz Festival was held at the Embassy of
Sweden Garden, Addis Ababa, collecting an audience of more than 1,100 people.
During the festival, some of Ethiopia’s most well-known as well as young and emerging Ethiopian artists presented their work to the audience. As a special treat, Addis Jazz Festival also marked the awaited comeback of our very own legend Hailu Mergia, after decades of absence from the public music arena.
To quote Ato Teshome Wondimu, Executive Producer of the festival, “today’s festival is a memorial attribute to Ato Desta Mahdere Desta, who was our longterm partner in all design and graphics works and for the Legendary Artist Elias Melka.”
Apart from live performances, the audience was able to enjoy a variety of DJ music sets, presentation of artistic painted work, and a selection of food and beverages.
The festival was organized by Selam Sounds in partnership with Selam Ethiopia and the Embassy of Sweden, and will continue to work on bringing artists from different countries to the same venue, aiming to develop Jazz Festival at the heart of Addis Ababa.
