Ethiopia will mark its first Earth Observation Micro-Satellite on December 15, 2020, at 12:21 AM.

The ETRSS-1 monitoring station is located at the Entoto Observatory and is fully operational by Ethiopian experts.

In terms of the micro-satellite, our country is aiming for sustainable solutions to solving major problems in light of the real situation of our country. Specifically, it will help to grow and modernize the agricultural sector, increase productivity, forecast production, and forecast predation without floods and droughts. To enhance water resources management, it helps to enable green energy development activities such as sun and underground energy management, forestry control, good land management.

The Chinese government provided $ 6 million in aid and technical assistance, while 20 Ethiopian engineers participated in the operation of the satellite.
