South Korea donates $ 5 Million worth COVID-19 Equipment to Ethiopia

The Republic of Korea today (October 20) has donated USD 5 million worth of COVID-19 protective equipment to Ethiopia.

Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs of the Republic of Korea, H.E. Ham Sang-wook, handed over the donation to Ethiopia’s Minister of Health, H.E. Dr. Lia Taddese.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Lia Taddese thanked the Republic of South Korea for such a generous donation.

She said the donation is critical in supporting Ethiopia’s efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

H.E. Mr. Ham Sang-wook said his country is delighted to present the donation to Ethiopia.

He said his country is grateful to the Ethiopian troops who fought alongside the Republic of Korea during the Korean War.

State Minister H.E. Birtukan Ayano has also delivered a speech thanking the people and Government of the Republic of Korea for their continuous support to Ethiopia’s battle against the virus.

She said the Republic of Korea has always been close to Ethiopia in supporting various development endeavors.

The state minister concluded her speech urging the Government of the Republic of Korea to encourage Korean investors to invest more in Ethiopia.

At the occasion, H.E. Mr. Oh Myung Don, Ambassador for Global Health Security, and H.E. Mr. Hoon Min Lim, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, were in presence.
