
Djibouti hosts its first “Taste of #Ethiopia” Exhibition
To further augment the exemplary politico-economic diplomacy of Djibouti and Ethiopia by the flavor of culinary Diplomacy; “Taste of Ethiopia”, the first of its kind to be held outside the country is kicked off today (July 03, 2021) in Djibouti. Present were the Ministers of Culture and Tourism of both countries, Ambassadors, representatives of relevant institutions like Chambers of Commerce as well as tour operators, hotels, renowned companies that showcased their export products.
During the opening session of the Exhibition, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport, Dr. Hirut Kassaw noted the massive benefits of events such as this to fully exploit the complimentary cultural and touristic advantages of both countries. Noting the exemplary strategic ties between the two countries, the Minister stressed the need to raise the bar to a new height in the fields of culture and tourism as well through exhibitions, forums and seminars that further boost cross-cultural understanding in the hopes of improving interactions and cooperation. Djiboutian counterpart, Minister Mohamed Warsama Dirieh, on his part, expressed the utmost readiness from his government to up scale the historic people to people ties, joint tourism operations, intra-regional tourism, etc.
Ethiopian Ambassador to Djibouti, Berhanu Tsegaye said, “I believe, an economic integration that hugely invests on the shared values and cultures of the peoples of the two countries is guaranteed to pass the trail of time. This is exactly what our two governments are reaffirming here in this hall.” Chairman of the Chmaber of Commerce of Djibouti, Youssouf Moussa Dewaleh added, the Ethio-Djibouti Forum that was held in January this year in Addis Ababa was a watermark in changing the slow gear of the sector; and noted “this Exhibition is a fruit of the earlier forum.” He called for a closer cooperation to best garner the untapped opportunities in the joint Ethio-Djibouti culture and tourism cooperation.
During the session, Ministers, Ambassadors and participants have taken their bite of the unique Ethiopian foods and drinks, attended a colorful fashion show of with traditional Ethiopian attires, the musics and dances of Ethiopia and Djibouti.
Numondo, Ethiopian Embassy in Djibouti, Ministry of Trade and Tourism of the Republic of Djibouti and ONTD, Air Djibouti as well as Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Djibouti are among the organizers of the two days long Exhibiton.
