Commander of the 12th Metema Battalion, Col. Amare Molla, said the TPLF group is forcing children to fight. The 12th Metema Division of the Western Command has been found to be forcibly fighting a number of children under the age of 18 during a search operation in the central area of Dega Arbi Mainktil in the Tigray Regional State.

Commander of the brigade, Col. Amare Molla, said the children were forcibly separated from their families and forced to go to war, using the community as a cover and spreading false rumors, disrupting the daily life of the community. Col. Azene Abebe, the head of the 12th Battalion, on his part said that efforts are being made to restore the lives of the people in all the towns where our army has reached.

He said the youths of the state should realize that TPLF’s false propaganda is futile and should carry out their daily activities without the help of the security forces. Mulu Gebreselassie, a second-year law student at Mizan Tepe University, testified that the TPLF group was recruiting children between the ages of 12 and 15.
